Why participate in PTs?

• To have the quality of your test results assessed by an external partner, in comparison to other laboratories worldwide

• To identify needs for training, maintain competence and indicate areas of improvement

​

• To make sure that the laboratory is able to deliver reproducible results to its customers

 

• To meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025. PTs must cover all accredited analyzes if such programs exist

​

 

Independent of the internal performance evaluation, proficiency tests serve:​

• in the comparison of different methods, by comparing actual detected measurement results

​​

• in the detection of systematic and random errors in analyses, allowing corrective actions to be taken

​​

• ​in the calculation of your own degree of measurement uncertainty, or in providing a plausible cross-check to your existing estimation

​​

• in the documentation, compliant to standards, of your own competence
